Brief
Casa Vista, a significant alterations and additions project, aimed to maximise the potential of its panoramic Vaucluse site. The property boasts a sloping gradient rising towards the street, offering a private outlook through the tree canopy out to Sydney Harbour.
The clients and their family envisioned a sanctuary and retreat, with dedicated zones for both entertaining and relaxation. The Architect's vision called on a contemporary interpretation of classic European forms. This included grand arches and porticoes, which presented an interesting challenge due to the topography of the site.
Outcome
The home embodies a luxurious haven bathed in natural light. The circular central entryway skylight echoes the curves of masonry arches that frame the entry and windows.
Relaxed luxury is subtly woven into every detail. The lower levels boast a cedar-clad sauna and adjoining steam room, while the central staircase adorned with a delicate, lace-like steel balustrade adds a touch of elegance around its micro cement spine.
Natural timber tones are beautifully complemented by split-face textured stone and Venetian plaster, creating a sense of timeless sophistication.
Open and spacious living areas seamlessly connect to the kitchen and dining areas, all flowing effortlessly onto outdoor balconies. Lush gardens and mature trees frame the peaceful harbour panorama, creating a truly idyllic setting.
